FORKS — Police arrested two people today in connection with the shooting death of Antonio Rodriguez-Maldonado on Thursday night.
Kelly White, 32, who police identified as his ex-girlfriend, was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. for investigation of conspiracy to commit murder, and an unidentified 45-year-old man was arrested at about 3:30 p.m. at his home off of Bogachiel Way for investigation of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, said Forks Mayor Nedra Reed.
When asked specifically if White had been arrested, Reed confirmed that she had been. But she declined to name the man who was arrested, saying that it is the policy of the Forks Police Department not to name those arrested until they are formally charged.
Rodriguez-Maldonado, 33, was shot at about 11 p.m. Thursday, Forks police said this morning.
The shooting occurred on the 100 block of Campbell Street in a residential area near the Shell gas station one block off Forks Avenue in downtown Forks.
Rodriguez-Maldonado was found face down in the street. He was transported to Forks Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:48 p.m.
Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot followed by voices, then additional gunshots.
Authorities, who interviewed two eyewitnesses, said two suspects fled the scene in a Chevrolet Blazer.
Reed said the Blazer belongs to the man arrested.
She said police are looking for another man identified as a person of interest.
No information about him has been released.
