PORT ANGELES — Two Hamilton Elementary School students — twin sisters Eden and Reagan Critchfield — were honored at a recent School Board meeting as Port Angeles School District Students of the Month for September.

The sixth-graders were selected by Hamilton staff as part of a new program instituted by Port Angeles School District Superintendent Marc Jackson to honor exemplary students.

The girls have attended Hamilton since the first grade and were honored for their positive contributions in and out of the classroom.

“They are kind, creative, caring and thoughtful,” teacher Becky Gundersen said.

Teacher George Kheriaty talked of their involvement in student and community activities.

“They’ve taken dance at the Port Angeles Dance Center — ballet and jazz dance — for seven years, and they played soccer for four years. Both have played in the school orchestra since fourth grade,” he said.

Students of the Month will be announced at each school’s respective School Board meeting. Each district school hosts a board meeting once during the school year.

Eden and Reagan are the daughters of Jon and Tracy Critchfield.
