PORT ANGELES — A free program will be offered from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday to those who want to become tsunami public education instructors.
The Tsunami Train-the-Trainer program will be presented in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
Pre-registration is requested.
The program provides an educational curriculum to train participants to become qualified tsunami public education instructors.
State and national instructors will provide information about the tsunami threat and risk to North Olympic Peninsula coastal communities.
They will cover the most current scientific information about tsunamis, how to prepare for one and how to expedite recovery.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office-Emergency Management Unit is working with the state Emergency Management Division and the National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program to bring the training to town.
The joint effort will allow the county to expand the number of trained instructors.
For more information or to pre-register, contact Jamye Wisecup, program coordinator, at jwisecup@co.clallam.wa.us or 360-417-2525.
