BRINNON — State Patrol troopers are looking for a pickup truck that prompted a wreck on U.S. Highway 101 some 3 miles south of Brinnon.
Alyvia Bennett, 18, of Port Angeles was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend on Tuesday night with what troopers said were minor injuries.
“As far as I know, it wasn’t real serious,” said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
A Jefferson Healthcare spokesperson declined Wednesday to confirm or deny that Bennett was there.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a white pickup truck heading south on Highway 101 crossed over the center line and into the northbound lane while rounding a curve, according to the State Patrol.
Bennett, who was driving a 2002 black Chevrolet Trailblazer in the northbound lane, swerved off the road to avoid a collision.
Her car struck an embankment on the side of the road and spun out, hitting a guardrail and road sign before stopping in the southbound lane, the State Patrol said.
The white pickup continued south on Highway 101, according to the State Patrol.
Troopers are trying to track down information about the pickup truck and its driver, but Winger said that could be difficult.
“They’ve got pretty limited information to begin with,” Winger said. “This may be a case where we don’t actually find anyone.”
Currently, the only information State Patrol has was given by Bennett, who described the vehicle as a white pickup truck. The make, model, plate number or state remained unknown as of Wednesday.
Bennett was wearing a seat belt. Her car was damaged and towed away from the scene, according to the State Patrol report.
