PORT ANGELES — A 19-year-old Port Angeles man alleged to have stolen $40,000 in a home burglary will be tried May 7 in Clallam County Superior Court.
Blake M. Stensland pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of residential burglary, theft of a firearm and first-degree theft.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said Stensland and a juvenile, whose name is not published because of his age, broke into a home Feb. 28 on Shamrock Lane, 5.5 miles east of Port Angeles
The cash was kept in a small safe they allegedly hauled out of the home in a wheelbarrow.
What else safe contained
The safe also contained a rifle, jewelry, a large knife and a chain saw.
Stensland allegedly used between $15,000 and $16,000 of the stolen cash to buy a car in Seattle.
The juvenile was released from Clallam County Juvenile Detention on bail, said Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron on Saturday.
It was unclear if he has been charged.
Stensland remained in Clallam County jail Saturday.
He was released from jail on personal recognizance Feb. 16 after being arrested the day before for investigation of a separate charge of residential burglary.
According to court documents, Stensland allegedly stole a video game system, controllers and games from a Port Angeles home.
