PORT ANGELES — A trial for a Port Angeles man accused in an attempted robbery and gunshot wounding of another man has been scheduled for Feb. 22.
The trial of Edward K. Perez, 21, on charges of second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and first- degree assault with a firearm, was originally scheduled for Dec. 21.
The charges stem from the Oct. 2 shooting of Michael A. Rosche who was shot twice near Shane Park in Port Angeles. Rosche was treated at Olympic Medical Center and has since been discharged.
Alleged shooter at large
Police believe that Andraces Latrell Henderson of Seattle shot Rosche. Henderson, a convicted felon, remains at large, said Detective Jason Viada. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
No reason for the change in trial date was given in court records. Both the prosecution and defense agreed on the delay.
Court documents give this account:
At about 1 a.m. in the 600 block of South E. Street, near Shane Park, Henderson opened the front passenger door of a car Rosche was in, and demanded money that he believed Rosche had taken from him. Rosche resisted and was shot twice by Henderson. Police said Perez helped Henderson with the attempted robbery.
Reason for charges
Police have said that, while the probable cause statement doesn’t say that Perez assaulted Rosche, he is charged with an assault charge because he helped to facilitate the alleged crime.
Henderson, 19, is described as a black male about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous, so people should not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately, said Viada.
