PORT ANGELES — Beginning Monday, drivers can expect delays on U.S. Highway 101 along Lake Crescent for four days while state Department of Transportation maintenance crews remove trees next to the highway.
The work schedule will include a one-hour closure to all traffic Tuesday at milepost 229, about a mile east of Barnes Creek, where crews will fell a large tree and remove it from the roadway.
Dependent on weather
Work is dependent on the weather. In the event of high winds, the work will be canceled and rescheduled at a later date.
Here is the schedule:
• 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday — One-way alternating traffic escorted by a pilot car in areas between mileposts 220 and 228. Expect delays up to 15 minutes.
• 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday — One-hour closure at milepost 229 and one-way alternating traffic. A closer time frame for the one-hour closure will be provided Tuesday, as it will be based on work progress of the crews removing the tree, Transportation said.
During the closure, motorists can use state highways 112 and 113. Some traffic delays should also be expected on state Highway 112 for work occurring on that highway.
• 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday — One-way alternating traffic escorted by a pilot car in areas between mileposts 220 and 228. Expect delays up to 15 minutes.
