Treasures, deal available at Community Garage Sale and Flea Market

PORT TOWNSEND — Thousands of shoppers from around the North Olympic Peninsula are expected to descend upon the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on Saturday to find donated treasures and vendor deals at the 16th annual JeffCo Community Garage Sale and Flea Market.

Admission will be free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds at 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend.

For those wanting a sneak peek, Early Bird VIP passes are available for $10.

VIPs may begin shopping at 8:15 a.m. VIP passes are available at the information booth at 8 a.m. Saturday.

“Close to 2,000 people attended last year’s event,” said Sue McIntire of the Jefferson County Fair Association. “We have over 70 rented vendor booths, with only a couple of spots remaining.”

Donated items for the community garage sale include antiques, tools, furniture, children’s items, books and household items.

Flea market and garage sale vendors from the Peninsula — as well from Vantage, Silverdale and Seattle — will be located both inside and outside the buildings, as well as in tailgate spaces.

They will be selling such items as comic books, fishing gear, reclaimed wooden benches and carts, sports equipment, and paper goods. Artisans will be selling their work which will include woodworking items, knitted and crocheted items, paintings and sewn crafts.

In addition, several direct sales companies will be represented, including Gutter Helmet and LuLaRoe.

“Port Townsend’s Windward School will be selling flower bulbs,” McIntire said.

The Fair Restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for hungry shoppers. Breakfast includes eggs, sausage, pancakes and hashbrowns. Lunch will feature burgers, sandwiches, soups and chicken strips.

“Proceeds from sales support the nonprofit Jefferson County Fair Association,” McIntire said. “Over the years, we’ve bought tables and a commercial refrigerator.

“Monies from vendor booths and sales goes to support the fair and grounds to help pay expenses.”

The nonprofit Jefferson County Fair Association sponsors the annual Jefferson County Fair, set this year for Aug. 10, 11 and 12; and the JeffCo Holiday Fair, set Nov. 3 and 4.
