PORT ANGELES — Yet another Port Angeles residence was burglarized Saturday in a string of break-ins that now includes more than 15 such crimes in the last three weeks.
The latest victim reported the crime at 5:37 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 1100 block of South Race Street.
Tools and cleaning supplies were reported taken from the residence, Sgt. Glen Roggenbuck said.
“Cleaning supplies are a bit unusual,” Roggenbuck said. “Typically, they take stuff with more value to it,” he said.
Police do not know if there is a single person or group responsible for the crimes, but Roggenbuck said that typically in a string like this, at least a few were not committed by a primary person or group.
Holidays often are accompanied by an increase in burglaries because people have more valuables laying out in their homes, Roggenbuck said.
However, not all the recent burglaries fit the holiday pattern, he said.
Jewelry, checkbooks, DVDs, lawn equipment and a shotgun were stolen during the recent break-ins, according to police.
According to some of the reports, power was cut to the home or business before it was entered, Port Angeles Assistant Chief Brian Smith said.
Locations include the 800 block of East Front Street, 1300 block of West 11th Street, 200 block of West First Street, 100 block of South DelGuzzi Drive, 300 block of East Eighth Street, 500 block of East Seventh Street, 300 and 500 blocks of East Park Avenue, 1500 block of South C Street, 200 block of West Fourth Street, 500 block of South Tumwater Truck Route, 1200 block of South Peabody Street and 1500 block of South Milwaukee Street.
The burglaries occurred between early morning and mid-evening.
