How should tiny Brinnon School, which has 40 students, spend a $10,000 windfall?
Brinnon School will receive the money after one of its staff members entered an online sweepstakes.
Para-educator Pam Fields entered the sweepstakes sponsored by office supply manufacturer Avery Dennison that was meant to promote a new line of sticky notes.
She left her email and contact information.
Nothing else was required.
Earlier this month, the school was informed that it had won the contest, which was decided at random, and would receive the money in March.
Fields, a member of the local Parent Teacher Organization, said the PTO will begin soliciting suggestions from staff and students about how the money should be spent.
Suggestions will be voted on by the PTO in January, she said.
The possibilities are diverse.
Several small items will be selected rather than one large one so that many needs can be met, Fields said.
“We want to spread it around,” Fields said.
Brinnon School has classes for preschool to eighth-grade students.
