Tickets on sale for Rose House fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — Tickets are available for a fundraiser for Rose House set this Saturday.

Two Port Angeles service organizations — the Soroptimist Noon Club and the Soroptimist Jet Set — will host a Garden Party High Tea and Silent Auction fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Elks Naval Lodge ballroom, 131 E. First St.

Proceeds will benefit Rose House, a shelter for women and children in Port Angeles. Funds raised at the event will help finance a privacy fence for the shelter.

How much?

Tickets are $30 per person and are available from any Soroptimist member, at the Elks Club, at the NTI Engineering &Surveying office at Eighth and Peabody streets or by phoning 360-452-9622 to purchase tickets or to make a donation.

“This is the second year for this very special event,” said Helen Fox, an organizer of the event. “Last year, it was sold-out, so buy your tickets early. Wear your finest hat.”

A variety of food and desserts will be served, and Amanda Bacon will provide entertainment while Jim Rosand will play background music. Witherow originally was scheduled to appear, but that has been canceled.

A rose painting by Karen Sistek, lawn art, crystal treasures, planters, fused glass and many themed baskets will be offered by bid through a silent auction to benefit Rose House.

Soroptimist’s mission is to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

At the local level, the Noon Club participates in multiple fundraisers, projects and programs such as Elegant Gourmet coupon books, Pink Up Port Angeles, Rose House, Valley Creek Estuary restoration, domestic violence and human trafficking awareness events, and The Dream It, Be It, Girls Circle Program.

Similarly, the Jet Set club also participates in and helps fund many community service projects. A few examples are scholarship programs, Relay for Life, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Summer Camp, Olympic Discovery Trail sponsorship, the annual elementary school spelling bee, the Mount Angeles unit of the Boys &Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and Women of Distinction Awards.

Membership meetings

Those interested in membership in either club are invited to attend club meetings. The Jet Set club meets at 7 a.m. Thursday mornings at the Port Angeles Senior &Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St., and the Noon Club meets at noon Fridays at Joshua’s Restaurant &Lounge, 113 S. DelGuzzi Drive.
