SEQUIM — A Port Angeles woman was airlifted to Providence Regional Medical Center-Everett after the car she was driving was struck on U.S. Highway 101 west of Sequim on Tuesday, the State Patrol said.
Lillian E. Easton, 42, was turning left from the highway onto Gilbert Road when the 2004 Volkswagen Golf she was driving was struck by a 1999 Nissan Maxima driven by Justin M. Sande of Sequim in the westbound lane, troopers said in a collision memo.
Sande, whose age was unavailable, was traveling “well over the posted speed limit” when he struck the passenger side of the turning Volkswagen, according to the State Patrol.
Sande and a 17-year-old passenger, Asia R. Thomas, also of Sequim, were transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.

Easton, who was the lone occupant in the Volkswagen, was airlifted to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The conditions of the three people involved in the wreck were not immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
All three were wearing seat belts and drugs or alcohol were not suspected as being factors in the wreck.
Sande was charged with second-degree negligent driving, driving with no insurance and driving with a suspended license, troopers said in the collision memo.
The collision was reported at about 12:13 p.m. Tuesday.
Highway traffic was diverted onto Gilbert Road during the investigation, said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, State Patrol spokeswoman.
