PORT ANGELES — Two people were transported by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a two-car crash Sunday night on U.S. Highway 101 blocked both lanes of traffic for about 30 minutes, a State Patrol spokesman said.
The crash 5 miles east of Port Angeles near Siebert Creek sent two drivers and a passenger to hospitals and totaled both vehicles, State Patrol spokesman Russell Winger said.
One driver — who was allegedly driving with a suspended license — was cited for failure to yield and other traffic-related offenses,Winger said.
Both directions of Highway 101 were blocked beginning at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday for 30 minutes.
The eastbound lane was blocked until about 11:15 p.m.
Matthew A. Hutto, 50, the driver of one vehicle, was treated and released at Olympic Medical Center, Beeman said.
Hutto was cited for failure to yield right of way, no insurance, expired registration and third-degree driving while licensesuspended.
Hutto’s license was suspended when the collision occurred, Winger said.
Driver Roberta J. McAdow, 76, of Sequim and a passenger in Hutto’s vehicle, Carla B. Sallee, 38, of Port Angeles, were transported toOlympic Medical Center before being ambulanced to Harborview Medical Center, Winger said.
Winger said McAdow had a possible spinal fracture, while Sallee had a possible facial fracture.
McAdow and Sallee were in serious condition and in intensive care Monday afternoon at Harborview, hospital spokeswoman SusanGregg said.
The two vehicles involved were cleared at 4:57 a.m. Monday.
Hutto, driving a 1988 Ford Bronco, was attempting to make a left turn from a private driveway onto westbound Highway 101 whenhe struck McAdow’s vehicle in the eastbound lane, according to the State Patrol.
There was no evidence that alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision, Winger said.
