BRINNON — Three people were injured in a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon after one car crossed the center line and struck another.
All three were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries such as possible hand and foot fractures and contusions, said Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly, whose department arrived at the 7:15 p.m. Tuesday wreck along with the Quilcene Fire Rescue and Mason Fire Department 17.
Katrin Felicetti of Rutland, Vt., 30, the driver of a black Dodge Dart was heading south when it struck a northbound Saturn Ion, carrying driver Lusnila Encisogomez of Shelton, 35, and passenger Jose Hernandezchimal of Lilliwaup, 50, near milepost 312, which is near Yashi Road.
Felicetti was taken to Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend for evaluation, while Encisogomez and Hernandezchimal were taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton, according to the incident report.
“It sounded ugly on the radio. There was a language barrier problem, so the dispatchers just did the best they could,” Manly said.
“It turned out to be very minor, and all three of them got to be released pretty quickly.
“Seat belts made all the difference on this one.”
The highway was cleared within three hours, Manly said.
