Three hurt in single-car wreck near Brinnon

BRINNON — Three Glenns Ferry residents were hurt when a car rolled on a hill at milepost 302 on U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon at 8:53 a.m. Thursday.

Passenger Curtis E. Nielson, 60, was listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Thursday afternoon. He was the only occupant not wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.

The driver of the 2006 Ford Escape, LaRue C. Nielson, 80, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma. A spokesperson said Thursday that the hospital would provide no information on her condition.

Passenger Ramona L. Ennis, 69, was not listed in the patient census at Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, where the State Patrol said she had been taken, on Thursday afternoon.

The single-car wreck was due to speed to fast for conditions, according to a State Patrol memo, which added that no charges were to be filed.

The driver lost control of the car as it came around a corner, struck the hill, rolled onto its side and slid down the roadway for about 100 feet, the State Patrol said.

The highway was fully blocked or narrowed to alternating traffic for three hours.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck, the State Patrol said.

The car was completely destroyed.
