PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles residents suffered apparent minor injuries in a three-car wreck near the Walmart Supercenter in Port Angeles.
The 10:48 a.m. wreck blocked U.S. Highway 101 for a half-hour, the State Patrol said.
A Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV driven by Deanna Rae Teuscher, 57, was stopped at the intersection of the highway with Kolonels Way when it rolled into the intersection, the State Patrol said.
Teuscher hit the gas as she tried to avoid a collision and was struck by a Toyota driven by Richard Lloyd Barker, 81, then collided with a Honda Civic driven by Dennis James Brown, 84, according to the State Patrol report.
Teuscher’s car came to rest in the westbound lane of Highway 101, while Brown’s car was pushed into the pedestrian call button on the northwest corner of the intersection and Barker’s car spun into the center of the intersection, the State Patrol said.
Teuscher and Barker were treated at the scene while Brown was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, the State Patrol said. His name was not listed as an in-patient at Olympic Medical Center later that day.
The cause of the wreck was failure to stop at a traffic signal, the State Patrol said, and a traffic citation was issued.
