FORKS – Three people – including a 9-month-old boy – were airlifted to a Seattle hospital following a head-on collision Tuesday morning on the highway connecting U.S. Highway 101 to LaPush.
Jacob P. Smith, 9 months, suffered slight facial cuts and Shanta R. Isham, 24, received fractured ribs and a punctured lung in the wreck on state Highway 110.
Both were listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a nursing supervisor said.
Dakotah J. Smith, 26, of LaPush, the driver of the 1997 Ford Taurus Jacob and Isham were riding in, received cuts to the head.
A nursing supervisor at Forks Community Hospital said Dakotah Smith was taken to Harborview as well, but the nursing supervisor at Harborview said he was not at the hospital at 9 p.m.
Isham and Dakotah Smith were not wearing seat belts, according to the State Patrol statement
Percy O. Midtbo, 76, of Forks, who was driving a 2004 Buick four-door, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, the statement said.
Both vehicles crossed the centerline near milepost 7, said a statement from the State Patrol.
Upon impact, Isham was ejected from the vehicle, the statement said.
