SHINE — Calm weather has allowed the state Department of Transportation to cancel closures of the Hood Canal Bridge that were scheduled tonight and Wednesday.
Conditions allowed contractor crews working for Transportation to complete a phase of work on the bridge early, eliminating the need for six-hour night closures that were scheduled through Wednesday, according to a Transportation press release.
As a result, closures that were scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. today and Wednesday have been canceled.
These overnight closures are part of an ongoing project to rebuild and replace internal mechanics of the bridge’s drawspan.
Additional six-hour closures will be needed during the project, and their dates and times will be announced as they are scheduled, according to the press release.
