PORT TOWNSEND — Police are asking people to check their bank records after credit card receipts were stolen in a burglary last week at a Port Townsend restaurant .
Nick Harper, owner of Macadoo’s Restaurant, 600 W. Sims Way, said the thieves made off with the restaurant’s heavy safe — possibly by using a hydraulic lift — plus an unknown amount of cash and the receipts.
But Harper said “customer credit card numbers weren’t on anything. Only the last four numbers are on it [the credit card receipt].
“They didn’t get any credit card numbers.”
But police Sgt. Ed Green said that while that may be the case, police are still asking anyone who has eaten at the restaurant in the last few weeks to check their bank statements for any unauthorized charges.
“Look for any inappropriate activity on your credit card,” Green said.
“If you find there are strange charges, contact the police and contact the bank.”
Macadoo’s was burglarized on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
Green said employees arrived on Thursday morning to open the restaurant and discovered the safe gone and the cash register broken into.
“Currently, we do not have any suspects,” Green said.
“We are asking anyone who knows anything to please give us a call.”
