CARLSBORG — Clallam County Humane Society workers rounded up 122 head of sheep this week and put them into foster care after some of them were found wandering loose around the area of Carlsborg Road, Scott Chandler, humane society executive director, said Wednesday.
It will cost the unidentified owner of the sheep about $12,800 to get all of the herd back.
Chandler said that the sheep were taken on Tuesday after he had spoken multiple times with their owner about fixing a fence through which the sheep were escaping.
Chandler did not identify either the owner of the sheep or those providing foster care, saying it is an ongoing matter and the names would be kept confidential.
He said he had offered to help round up aid to make the repairs to the fence.
“I had gotten my third call [on Tuesday] that there were sheep in the road, and I decided to go on out and take care of it,” he said.
