PORT ANGELES — A teenage girl was in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Sunday after she was struck by a car on U.S. Highway 101.
Bicyclist Zoe Ernst, 14, of Port Angeles, had stopped at the stop sign in the northbound lane of Blue Mountain Road, and then attempted to cross U.S. Highway 101 when she was hit by a white Honda Civic driven by Anna Wells, 18, of Seabeck, according to the State Patrol.
Ernst’s bicycle came to rest in the middle of the roadway at 1:29 p.m. Wells pulled to the eastbound shoulder and stopped.
Ernst was not wearing a bike helmet when she was hit, according to State Patrol. Ernst’s bicycle was destroyed.
Wells was not injured. Her passengers David Wells and Grace Wells of Seabeck and Christian Lehan of Silverdale were also unhurt; all four were wearing seatbelts. Their car was towed from the scene.
Neither alcohol nor other drugs were involved, State Patrol said.
