BEAVER — A 13-year-old Port Angeles girl who was discovered dead in her tent while she was camping with family members last week near Beaver was identified Tuesday as Lillian Star Taylor.
No cause of death has been determined, Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict said Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the death of the girl, who attended Stevens Middle School, as suspicious because of her age.
No foul play is suspected, Benedict said.
Autopsy and toxicology test results are pending, and may not be known until the middle of next week, Benedict said.
Taylor and her family were camping at the Tumbling Rapids Campground off U.S. Highway 101 when she was found dead Friday morning in her tent.
Her obituary lists her mother as Brenda Lesh, and her father and stepmother as Richard and Amber Taylor.
She had five brothers and two sisters.
Her obituary says Taylor had a “great passion for life and loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, cooking, art, poetry” and other activities.
She was an honor student at Greywolf Elementary School in Carlsborg and received the highest WASL score in the state for science in the fifth grade, the obituary said.
A “celebration of life” will occur at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Pentecostal Church, 508 S. Francis St.
