SEQUIM — The Sequim Police Department arrested a 16-year-old Sequim boy early Tuesday after a break-in at the Sequim Sprint store.
Sgt. Mike Hill said police received an alarm call at 1:02 a.m. from the store at 1400 W. Washington St., Suite 106. Officers found the front window and display case broken and one cellphone stolen.
The stolen phone was activated and the store manager was able to track it to a specific area in Sequim, Hill said.
Sequim police officers began canvassing the neighborhood and found the juvenile in the first home, he said.
The youth, who is not identified because of his age, was booked into the Clallam County Youth Center, Hill said, and he is allegedly linked to a second burglary and an attempted burglary last month at two local businesses.
The 16-year-old faces charges of malicious mischief, two counts of burglary, attempted burglary and theft.
Hill said a rough estimate of damages includes $240 for the phone and $1,200 for the broken window and glass case.
