Technical outages reported in Port Angeles area

PORT ANGELES — AT&T and Lumen Technologies reported outages on Thursday in the Port Angeles area.

If you’re an AT&T wireless customer who tried to make a call Thursday afternoon without success, it was likely due to a network problem that could be fixed within the next 24 hours, a customer service representative said.

AT&T customers who attempted to place calls received the recorded message, “Your phone’s not registered on a network, so you can only make emergency calls.”

The customer service representative said the wireless provider’s 5G and 4G networks were affected.

The representative also said that AT&T and Lumen were not affiliated.

T-Mobile wireless and internet customers also reported problems with their service.

The Port Angeles School District’s internet service provided by Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) went out around 1:30 p.m., said Director of Communications Tanner Zahrt.

Lumen Technologies customers Olympic Memorial Hospital and Chase Bank also reported outages.

In an email, a Lumen representative said, “We have a technical issue affecting some voice and internet services for customers in the Port Angeles area. Our technicians are on-site now working to restore services.”

Representatives with AT&T and Lumen Technologies did not provide information on the number of customers affected or the reason for the outages. T-Mobile could not be reached before press time.

More information will be published as it is received.
