PORT ANGELES — Edward K. Perez is scheduled to be tried Dec. 21 in Clallam County Superior Court on charges stemming from the early morning Oct. 2 shooting of Michael A. Rosche near Shane Park.
Perez, 21, who police say lives in the Port Angeles area, faces charges of second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and first-degree assault with a firearm.
The alleged shooter, Andrees Latrell Henderson of Seattle, remained at large Saturday.
Police identified Rosche, whose age and injuries were unavailable, of Port Angeles, on Friday as the man who was shot twice.
He was transported to Olympic Medical Center, and later discharged.
Court documents give this account:
Henderson opened the front passenger door of a car that Rosche was riding in at the 600 block of South E St., and demanded money that he believed Rosche had taken from him.
Rosche resisted and was shot twice by Henderson, a convicted felon, at about 1 a.m.
Police say Perez was with Henderson in order to help him with the attempted robbery.
A warrant for Henderson’s arrest was issued Monday.
“At this point he knows we are looking for him, so he is probably laying low,” said Port Angeles Officer Allen Brusseau.
Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said that while the probable cause statement doesn’t say that Perez assaulted Rosche, he is charged with an assault charge because he helped to facilitate the alleged crime.
Henderson, 19, is described as a black male about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.
The Port Angeles Police Department said in a prepared statement last week that Henderson is considered armed and dangerous, so people should not approach him, but call 9-1-1 immediately.
