Forget Wal-Mart. The real threats to retailers on the North Olympic Peninsula, or anywhere, are the scads of informal sales taking place in yards and garages just about every weekend during the warmer months of the year.
“It’s is like eBay without the wait,” said Karen Thompson of Poulsbo, who ventures up to Sequim several times each summer to visit relatives.
Thompson is an auction junkie, she says, and regularly participates in online purchasing.
But while in Sequim, she never misses a round of garage sales.
