As children from Sequim, Crescent and Quillayute Valley school districts head back to the classroom today, area law enforcement officials are warning drivers to watch for school speed zones and pedestrians.
Sequim police will be closely monitoring school zones and crosswalks today, Sequim Police Chief Byron Nelson said Tuesday.
“We always do this at the start of the school year and then throughout the year as needed,” he said.
Byron said seat belt enforcement will also be greater in school zones and crosswalks, warning motorists to buckle themselves and their children up.
Drivers in Clallam Bay and Neah Bay — the Cape Flattery School District –should note that school begins Thursday.
Students in the Port Angeles School District head back to class Sept. 9.
Students in the Queets-Clearwater School District returned to class Tuesday.
