Student liaisons join Sequim City Council

SEQUIM — The Sequim City Council has two new student liaisons.

Teya Nop and Haelee Andres were welcomed to the council June 26.

Nop moved to Sequim at the age of 3 from Takeo, Cambodia. She is involved in Leadership, the Associated Student Body (ASB), Be the Change Club, International Club, Interact and the National Honor Society.

Outside of school, she volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and the Sequim Food Bank.

Andres was born and raised in Sequim. She is involved in Leadership, Interact and Be the Change Club.

Her art class had the opportunity to create the mural at Whimsy Park on Washington Street.

Outside of school she works at the Black Bear Diner and Purple Haze Lavender to raise money for college where she plans to study education.

She hopes to return to Sequim as a high school teacher after college.

Both students attend Sequim High School and are entering their senior year in the fall.

They were selected by the school to serve as student liaisons to the City Council as a part of the school’s Leadership program.
