SEATTLE — The Stevens Middle School Technology Student Association competed in annual Washington State TSA Conference at the Doubletree SeaTac Hotel in March.
Faculty advisors, Brenda Manson and Gunnar Thomasen took 22 students to the four-day competition in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM.)
The team results were:
• Systems Control Design; first place; Peter Schiess, Brett Manson and Jacob Oberly.
• Biotechnology; first place; Miriam Cobb, Madeline Walton, Izzy Torgerson and Teig Carlson.
• Construction Challange; first place; Parker Horn, Audrey Rudd and Addison Fox.
• Off the Grid; first place; Kayla Grant, Olivia Mesen and Brooklyn McKnight.
• Off the Grid; third place; Lillian Mahaney, Avery Cammisa, Charlotte Curran, Stella Fradkin and Sarah Butterworth.
• Medical Technology; second place; Aurelio Wilson and Thomas Jones.
• Electrical Applications; second place; Izzy Torgerson and Peter Schiess.
• Data Science and Analytics; third place; Chloe Bruning, Tieg Carlson, Aurelio Wilson and Thomas Jones.
• Microcontroller Design; fourth place; McHenry Miller, Brett Manson and Jacob Oberly.
The Technology Student Association has chapters in more than 150 middle schools across the state that serve more than 1,200 students.
Teams that placed third or higher are qualified to attend the national competition this summer in Louisville, Kentucky.
