PORT ANGELES — The state Auditor’s Office has again cleared the city and port of breaking any laws when they formed the Port Angeles Harbor-Works Development Authority nearly two years ago.
The Auditor’s Office filed a report Tuesday confirming the findings of its original audit completed last May. The PDN received a copy of the report today.
The audit was in response to concerns raised by Port Angeles residents Norma Turner and Shirley Nixon over the legality of the formation of Harbor-Works and a few of the public development authority’s subsequent actions.
The Auditor’s Office redid its investigation after Nixon and Turner found that it did not look at all of the e-mails and other public documents that they provided the state agency.
The agency was formed to expedite the cleanup and development of the site of a former pulp mill in northeast Port Angeles.
