PORT ANGELES — A State Patrol trooper was transported to Olympic Medical Center with minor injuries after his patrol car was severely damaged in a wreck with other vehicles on U.S. Highway 101 at Morse Creek on Friday.
The State Patrol had not released the name of the trooper by Friday night, said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
The wreck continued to block at least one lane of eastbound Highway 101 traffic as of 6:20 p.m. Friday near where the highway crosses Morse Creek.
Winger said he had heard three vehicles were involved but did not know the details of the wreck.
“I don’t know what the dynamics were at all,” Winger said.
“We have units on scene and units en route to help investigate.”
Assistant Fire Chief Dan Huff, with Clallam County Fire District No. 2, said Friday that four vehicles were involved.
“I believe the last vehicle left the scene after it was released,” Huff said.
Winger said he had not heard of any other injuries related to the wreck.
Huff said the State Trooper “was the only one of the vehicle occupants that was transported.
“There’s significant damage to the trooper’s vehicle and one of the other vehicles,” he said.
