EDMONDS — Washington State Ferries has resumed two-vessel weekend service on the Edmonds-Kingston and Mukilteo-Clinton routes.
The routes have been operating with only one vessel on Saturdays and Sundays since June 20 due to crew shortages, a press release said.
The state ferry system also plans to resume two-vessel service on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle route beginning Aug. 30.
They have been operating this route Mondays through Fridays with only the Wenatchee in service and on Saturdays and Sundays with only the Walla Walla.
Ridership on state ferries is significantly lower than this time last year with approximately 75 percent as many vehicles carried and approximately 25 percent as many walk-on passengers.
The ferry system strongly encourages people who board a ferry in a vehicle to remain in their vehicle, if possible, during the entire sailing.
Walk-on passengers must wear a mask and maintain physical distancing standards, WSF will reduce vessel occupancy if needed to maintain distancing requirements.
