PORT ANGELES — The developers of a proposed sprint boat course on property near William R. Fairchild International Airport will be the speakers at Tuesday’s Port Angeles Business Association meeting.
The meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Joshua’s Restaurant and Lounge, 113 DelGuzzi Drive.
At a June 12 special meeting, the Port of Port Angeles board of commissioners agreed to sell 113 acres — known as either the South Airport Industrial Properties or the former Critchfield family property — to the Dan Morrison Group for $1,050,000.
The group — which consists of Dan Morrison, Don Zozosky, and Randy Alderson — have said they plan to build a jet sprint boat course on about 3 acres of the property.
They haven’t said what their plans would be for the remainder of the land.
In sprint boat racing, small two-person speed boats powered by water jet propulsion are raced around water courses about three feet deep and 15 feet wide.
The boats can reach speeds of 80 mph in three seconds, and some generate more than 1,000 horsepower.
