PORT ANGELES — Raquel Young led three players in double figures to spark the Peninsula College women’s basketball team to a 78-47 pounding of Edmonds in NWAACC North Division action Saturday.

The Pirates came out strong with a 16-1 lead in the first 5 minutes and they never looked back.

Peninsula used a balanced lineup against Edmonds, obtaining 45 points off the bench to Edmonds’ eight points.

Abby Jones was the third person in double digits with 10 points, shooting 5 of 9 from the field.

Pirates 3-1 in league

The Pirates improved to 3-1 in league and 9-5 overall while Edmonds fell to 0-3, 0-11.

“We took good shots, which was something we wanted to improve on,” coach Alison Crumb said.

“I think our offense was very patient and unselfish, which ultimately led for a pretty effective shooting percentage.

“Defensively, we tried to work on some things, and I think we accomplished that.

“We look forward to a tough matchup against Everett.”

The Pirates play at Everett at 4 p.m. today while the two men’s teams compete at 6 p.m.
