MONTESANO — The Forks boys basketball team rebounded from a disappointing home loss Tuesday night with a gritty performance against the Bulldogs on Thursday.
The Spartans won the defensive gem 41-35.
Forks out-rebounded Montesano by a 30-20 margin and overcame a 27-percent shooting night from the field to pull out another SWL-Evergreen Division victory.
“I told the kids I think we put basketball back about 25 or 30 years tonight,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.
“I always tell my kids good teams find a way to win on the road, and as ugly as it was, it was still a win.”
Braden Decker submitted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Spartans (7-2, 11-4).
Senior post Brady Castellano added nine rebounds and three points off the bench, while Cameron Leons had six points and six steals in a game Forks led almost from start to finish.
Montesano (3-7, 9-7) hit just 32 percent of its shots, with leading scorer Joe Benedict limited to just eight points.
“Nobody scored in double figures for them so that was good,” Justus said.
