PORT ANGELES — Beware of ripped off Big Rig Race tickets.
That’s the message the general manager of Port Angeles Speedway is sending to area residents, who may happen across one or more of the 400 tickets that were stolen earlier this week.
The only valid tickets to the race featuring truck tractors will now be sold at the gate on the day of the races, said Trisha Adams.
Van burglarized
A van belonging to the owners of the race track was burglarized last Sunday. In addition to a few miscellaneous items, about 400 adult, student/senior citizen and children’s tickets were taken.
“They didn’t really trash the vehicle,” Adams said.
“They just took everything in it.”
There were a handful of the tickets sold before the break-in and Adams said those people should call the Speedway at 360-452-5175 for a refund.
The Big Rig Race is still scheduled for July 8, Adams said.
The event pits tractor-trailers, also known as semitrailers, against other trucks. The races are part of North American Big Rig Racing, which started in Canada.
Tickets identifiable
The stolen tickets are easily identified by their coloring. The adult tickets, priced at $13, are light blue. The student/senior tickets, priced at $11, are light green. Children’s tickets, priced at $8, are light yellow.
