New federally mandated security measures may be more visible on state ferries traveling to and from Port Townsend than they will be on privately owned vessels that travel between Port Angeles and Victoria.
Travelers on Washington State Ferries, including the Port Townsend-Keystone run may see bomb-sniffing dogs or have their license plates checked.
But they won’t endure random vehicle searches or airport-style personal searches under the security plan officially sent to the Coast Guard last week.
