OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — An unexpected eight inches of snow fell at Hurricane Ridge on Thursday, hampering an Olympic National Park road crew’s progress ditch clearing along Hurricane Ridge Road.
The ditch clearing project will continue Monday through Thursday, forcing closure of the road at Heart O’ The Hills entrance station between 5 a.m. and noon each day, park officials said Friday.
All other park roads remain open 24 hours a day, except for Deer Park and Hurricane Hill roads, which are still snow-covered, Queets Road, which is closed at Matheny Creek bridge because of road damage, and Dosewallips Road, which is washed out several miles below the park boundary.
