“Small Town Christmas” theme of Festival of Trees in Port Angeles today through Sunday

PORT ANGELES — The Festival of Trees sponsored by the Port Angeles Exchange Club and the Olympic Medical Foundation kicks off with the theme of “It’s a Small Town Christmas” tonight, Nov. 26, at the Vern Burton Center.

Tonight’s festivities include the gala event at which more than 30 trees and wreaths will be auctioned.

Tickets for the event are already sold out, as are tickets for today’s Teddy Bear Tea for children. However, the general public can still see the trees and enjoy the holiday atmosphere with the Festival of Trees Family Days on Saturday and Sunday.

Family Days begin with the Senior Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 at the Toggery and Westsound Bank. While advanced reservations are strongly suggested, some tickets may be available at the door.

The event, for those age 65 and older or anyone with limited mobility, offers breakfast catered by the CrabHouse restaurant and time for guests to enjoy looking at the holiday decorations without having to negotiate crowds.

The Washington Old Time Fiddlers will perform during the Senior Breakfast.

Live entertainment will continue throughout Family Days on Saturday and Sunday. Family Days hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Admission is $4 for those age 12 and older.

Those visiting Family Days will have an opportunity to purchase Christmas tree toppers/centerpieces and can enter drawings for several decorated trees and wreaths.

Today’s Peninsula Spotlight magazine inside the Friday/Saturday PDN has a full schedule of events and exhibit trees.
