CLALLAM COUNTY FIRE District 2 firefighters responded to a brush fire at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday near the beach at 400 Charles Road, just north of Lower Elwha Road in the west Port Angeles area.
It was initially reported that several surfers were using water buckets to try to put out the approximately 20-foot by 30-foot fire that involved brush and driftwood.
No structures were involved. Firefighters responded with one pumper, one brush truck, one ambulance and 8 firefighters. Cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
