PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County commissioners on Monday approved a county six-year road improvement program which includes 25 funded projects and 22 without a revenue source.
Municipalities are required to approve six-year road plans annually to qualify for state and federal funding. The six-year plan also prioritizes when the work will be done.
The 25 funded projects have a combined cost of more than $17 million with about $2.6 million coming from local funds, according to county road department officials.
Thirteen of the projects have only partial funding.
Work on nine of the 25 projects is scheduled to be finished in 2004. Some stretch out over more than one year.
