CHIMACUM — A big sneeze apparently caused a two-car wreck Saturday on state Highway 104 that left six people hospitalized, according to Port Ludlow Fire Department spokeswoman Keppie Keplinger.

All had injuries that were not life-threatening, Keplinger said.

They were taken to hospitals in Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Bremerton after the wreck, she added.

A Cadillac and Volkswagen Vanagon collided at about 3 p.m. west of Ludlow Lake, she said.

The driver of the Cadillac “apparently had a big sneeze and jerked the wheel, and bang, it happened,” Keplinger said.

Five passengers in the Cadillac and the driver of the Vanagon were walking after the collision, she said.

“They are still being checked out, but there does not appear to be any serious injury,” she said, adding that she did not know the identities of those involved.

A State Patrol spokesman did not return a call for comment.

The male driver of the Cadillac and a female passenger were transported to Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Keplinger said.

A woman and her two children who also were in the Cadillac were transported by East Jefferson Fire-Rescue to Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, she said.

The male driver of the Vanagon was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton by emergency personnel from Kitsap County, she said.

Keplinger said she had no other details about the wreck.
