Six hurt in Forks wreck

FORKS — Six people injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 110 near Forks on Monday have been treated and discharged from hospital care.

All six were treated and released from Forks Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The wreck occurred at about 4:39 p.m. Monday, the State Patrol said.

Jade S. Andrey, 30, of Switzerland was driving southbound in a Nissan Sentra when he failed to negotiate the turn from U.S. Highway 101 onto state Highway 110 and collided with a Chevrolet Aveo driven by Barbara J. Batchelor, 49, of Forks, according to a State Patrol report.

Batchelor was stopped at the intersection when the wreck occurred, troopers said in a collision memo.

The impact knocked the Aveo about 60 feet off the roadway into a tree line, the State Patrol said.

The Sentra came to a rest facing eastbound on state Highway 110, or La Push Road.

The State Patrol said distracted driving caused the crash. Andrey was charged with second-degree negligent driving, troopers said.

Barbara Batchelor and a 20-year-old passenger, Kelsey R. Batchelor, also of Forks, were transported to Forks Community Hospital.

Andrey and three passengers, Marie Morisod, 31, Coralie R. Barman, 30, and Flavia Storelli, 29, all from Switzerland, also were taken to the hospital, the State Patrol said.

All six people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, troopers said.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved, according to the State Patrol.
