LAPUSH — The U.S. Coast Guard towed a sinking fishing boat to LaPush Thursday evening.
The boat had started taking on water near James Island.
Coast Guard Group Port Angeles received an emergency call from the master of the fishing vessel Maranatha at 5 p.m. stating that he was taking on water.
A 47-foot response boat crew and an HH-65 helicopter crew were dispatched.
A pump was lowered to the vessel, and a member of the 47-foot boat crew boarded the Maranatha to help dewater the boat.
At LaPush it was found that the a loose heat exchange line caused sea water to be pumped into the vessel.
