PORT ANGELES — No one was injured in a mobile home fire in Gales Addition, according to a press release from Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday to a report of a residential structure fire on East Fifth Avenue, just east of Port Angeles, the release said.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from an unoccupied single-wide trailer that was undergoing demolition, the release said.
The blaze was caused by a backyard fire that was too close to combustibles, firefighters said. It ignited debris and then the mobile home, they said. It was knocked down quickly before firefighters worked to extinguish hot spots.
Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue responded with three engines, one ambulance and two command vehicles with a total of 13 firefighters. Olympic Ambulance provided EMS standby with an ambulance and two personnel.
“We would like to remind residents that there is no outdoor burning allowed in the urban growth area surrounding Port Angeles except recreational campfires,” firefighters said.
“If you are having a legal residential burn, please remember that there must be at least 60 feet from the nearest structure.”
