FORKS — A passenger was sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle while the driver was taken to Forks Community Hospital after a single-car wreck on South U.S. Highway 101 near the Hoh River.
Aiyana P. Jackson, 19, of Port Angeles, was airlifted to Harborview after the 6:46 p.m. Friday wreck. A Harborview spokesperson said she was not listed on the patient census Saturday.
The driver, John J. Rush, 26, of Forks, was cited for having wheels off the roadway, the State Patrol said.
Forks Community Hospital would not release his condition Saturday, saying it was against hospital policy.
The State Patrol said that Rush was northbound on Highway 101 at milepost 176 near the Hoh River when his car left the roadway to the right, struck a utility pole and came to rest in the northbound ditch.
Neither Rush nor Jackson were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
Troopers said that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the wreck.
