The current series of storms has brought the first lasting snow of the season to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics and to recreation areas in the North Cascades.
And the good news for snow enthusiasts is that more snow is forecast this week, including several inches at the Ridge through Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The region’s leader in snowfall is Mount Baker, which received 24 inches over the weekend and more was reported falling Monday night.
Stevens Pass east of Everett received 6 inches at the base and 8 inches at the top. Officials there said the current snow brings optimism that the ski area may open by Thanksgiving weekend.
