PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Shop With a Hero team has partnered with the Seattle Mariners for a fundraiser to support this year’s program through July 18.
The Shop With a Hero program has obtained a block seats in the 100 level at the July 20 Mariners game against the Houston Astros.
Tickets are $63 per seat and $10 from each ticket purchased at https://fevo-enterprise.com/event/ clallamcountyhero25sea will be donated to the program.
The Shop With a Hero program offers children in foster care or who receive social services the opportunity and money to shop for Christmas presents for themselves and their families.
Participating children are paired with first responders from the Lower Elwha Police Department, Jamestown S’klallam Fish and Wildlife Enforcement, Port Angeles Police Department, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Clallam County Juvenile and Family Services, Clallam County Fire Department, Port Angeles Fire Department, state Department of Corrections, Washington State Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Port Angeles Station and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
At the 2024 event, children each were given $175 to spend.
The program is organized by current and former members of the Lower Elwha Police Department, Port Angeles Police Department, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and Clallam County Juvenile and Family Services.
The annual event is hosted by the Port Angeles Walmart, which donates hot chocolate, gift wrapping supplies and the time to set everything up.
The independent program is funded by grants, community donations and fundraisers.
Tax-deductible donations earmarked for the program can be made year-round to the Port Angeles Police Association and the Olympic View Community Foundation.
