PORT ANGELES — First-edition Serenity House Family Services Cookbooks are available for holiday giving.
Recipes covering the gamut from breakfast to dessert, super-affordable to splurge, were contributed by Serenity House clients, staff and volunteers.
The 128-page, comb-bound books were designed, printed and assembled in-house.
Taking the lead to bring an idea to reality was Bryanne Stewart, who worked as a summer-into-fall intern with Serenity House Family Services programs, which help homeless families with children achieve self-sufficiency.
Although Stewart completed the internship required for her bachelor’s degree in human services from Western Washington University in mid-November, she returned as a volunteer to help assemble the books, assisted by her 3-year-old daughter, Bailey.
Cookbooks may be purchased for $7 each at the Serenity House Thrift Store, 502 E. First St., Port Angeles; Serenity Shop, 215 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim; or at the Serenity House administrative office, 2203 W. 18th St., Port Angeles.
Proceeds from cookbook sales help support Serenity House services to homeless families.
