Sequim’s Keying Around pianos sold at auction

The pianos sold for $500 and $600 each.

SEQUIM — After a month on display for locals and visitors to see and play, two of the three pianos painted through the Keying Around art program have been sold.

The pianos went to silent auction Aug. 5.

The pianos sold for $500 and $600 each, with some funding supporting the city Arts Commission’s projects and the Sequim School District’s art and music programs.

The third piano will be used for promoting future events as it is moved around the city, city volunteers said.

The donated pianos were painted by organizer Natalie Andrzejeski, Larry White and Todd Fischer, as well as The Art Jam collective.

They were first seen July 1 at the First Friday Art Walk and were sold at its August event.

Langlois Pianos has moved the pianos for the event.

“The community received it well for its first year,” Andrzejeski said.
